L.A. County Sheriff's Deputy Charged With Undercover Sex Sting

A Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputy has been charged with meeting a teenage girl for sex after luring her through a dating application.

The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office reports that Miguel Cabrera was charged with one felony count each of meeting a minor and distributing pornography to a minor.

In a statement released on Friday, October 16th, the Sheriff's Department said the investigation reflected Sheriff Alex Villanueva’s "commitment to transparency and accountability."

"This case originated with, was fully investigated by, and was presented to the office of the district attorney for prosecution by our department. We remain committed to transparently holding our personnel accountable while providing for the safety and security of the communities we serve,” the statement read.

Cabrera is scheduled to return to court for a hearing next month on November and if convicted, he will faces several years behind bars.
