December 06, 2013 - This week The Recording Academy announced their 2014 list of inductees into the GRAMMY Hall of Fame, where they honor the recordings of "lasting historical or qualitative significance which have made contributions to our cultural heritage."
Congratulations to WAR! Their recording of "Low Rider" will be inducted into the Hall of Fame in late January along with 26 other recordings that include Under The Boardwalk by The Drifters, Wonderful World by Sam Cooke, Rapper's Delight by Sugar Hill Gang, Walk This Way by RUN DMC, the Woodstock soundtrack and recordings by James Brown, Dolly Parton, The Rolling Stones and others. GRAMMY.ORG has the complete list. These 27 recordings join the nearly 1,000 other inductions, which are on display at the Hall of Fame home at the Grammy Museum in downtown Los Angeles at LA LIVE.
And speaking of LA LIVE, a big concert (which was also a CBS TV special) was held there tonight at the Nokia Theatre....the 56th Annual Grammy nominations were announced for the 2014 Grammy Awards which will honor music released between October 2012 - September 2013. Jay Z may have 99 Problems but a Grammy nomination is not one! He scored 9 nominations and we predict he will take at least one golden statue home. Click here for the complete list of nominations.
In 2014, The Grammy Hall of Fame will celebrate it's 40th anniversary so we go back to that first year for this memory.....in 1974 one of the first recordings inducted was one of our favorites and perfect for the holidays:

December 5, 2013 - Do you think Little Richard and Wink Martindale would be offended if we called them Oldies But Goodies? The words are somewhat fitting as they have both been around as long as I have...since before Rock and Roll! And still doing good.....
Little Richard first hit the charts in 1956 with the song "Tutti-Frutti" and in September of this year he revealed he suffered a heart attack. But he admited it wasn't his time as Jesus had brought him through the event and has something more for him do. Today Little Richard is 81 !
And Wink Martindale, who is a fellow broadcaster (we both have KRLA on our resume), began radio as a teenager, found TV success as a game show host and is still going strong. He continues to produce radio specials and makes frequent appearances at the Pacific Pioneer Broadcasters luncheons. Yesterday Wink celebrated his 79th birthday !
LITTLE RICHARD and WINK MARTINDALE!!!
Keep on rockin' !!
