The last Wednesday of February has some iconic birthdays....

- Nobel Prize and Pulitzer Prize winning writer, JOHN STEINBECK, was born on 2/27 and best known for his legendary works, The Grapes of Wrath, East of Eden and Of Mice and Men all made into Hollywood blockbuster movies

- and one of the world's best known movie stars, DAME ELIZABETH TAYLOR, was born on 2/27 in England to American parents.  Ms. Taylor began as a child actor and sustained a career that spanned over six decades.  Among her many honors, she earned two Academy Awards for acting in BUtterfield 8 and Who's Afraid of Virginia Wolf? and was awarded the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award Oscar.  She raised millions in her HIV/Aids activism.  The photo above was taken in 1974, Ms. Taylor was a guest at Liza Minelli's wedding reception (to Jack Haley Jr.), which was held at Art Laboe's Oldies But Goodies Club on the Sunset Strip.  The man Ms. Taylor was married to twice, Richard Burton, will posthumously receive a star next to hers on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Friday, March 1st.
