November 14, 2013 - On this day in 1956, Jerry Lee Lewis stepped into the iconic Memphis studio and did his first recording for Sun Records (same place Elvis got his start). Although those recordings (Crazy Arms and End of the Road) didn't make it to the Pop chart, less than a year later Jerry Lee was riding high on the charts with Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On and Great Balls of Fire. Shortly thereafter, we booked Jerry Lee to perform at one of our Dance and Shows at El Monte Legion Stadium. He was twirling on his stool and banging on his piano pounding those hits out for the crowd that gathered with us in East Los Angeles. And as they say, the rest is history....

November 11, 2013 - We salute our Veterans today! To the brave men and woman, past and present, that serve our country to protect our freedom and liberties, we THANK YOU.
Right out of high school, I had the honor of serving in the United States Navy and was able to travel to many parts of the world. Today I hold the rank of Captain U.S. Army Reserve (AFRTS).
Enjoy this day that celebrates all our military Veterans.

November 09, 2013 - Today the National Radio Hall of Fame honors their Class of 2013 inductees with a gala at the Museum of Broadcast Communications in Chicago hosted by Larry King. Congratulations to all the new honorees....Click here to see who they are and details on the party.
Tomorrow (11/10) marks the one year anniversary of my induction into the National Radio Hall of Fame. An honor that is career highlight for me. I am grateful to the Bruce Dumont and the Museum for the honor of joining my predecessors and colleagues in the Hall of Fame. Pictured above are a few of the memories of the 2012 Chicago gala (from top to bottom): The Hall of Fame window TV billboard, my sister and me at the poster that hangs in the Museum, the Gala host Geraldo Rivera and my friend from our KRLA days and my presenter Dick Biondi.
Also grateful to the many radio stations through the decades that have given us a microphone to broadcast from. Thank you to HOT 92.3, the Art Laboe Radio Network flagship station, for being our hometown family broadcasting The Art Laboe Connection six nights a week and for the great send off party last year.
And last but not least, lots of gratitude to YOU, our listeners! Both young and Oldies But Goodies! Without you tuning in, we wouldn't be here. You've made this memorable radio journey possible. THANK YOU! And cheers to making for memories together!

November 08, 2013 - She was born Vera Jayne Palmer, but the world knows her as JAYNE MANSFIELD! A true entertainer: actress of theater, film and TV, a singer (she even recorded several songs on our Original Sound Records label: Little Things Mean A Lot and That Makes It), a model and a nightclub performer. Jayne was the original blonde bombshell, an early Playboy Playmate and the best at getting publicity. She would tell us, any press is good press (even the negative stuff) because they're talking about you! Miley Cyrus is still proving that today!
Jayne died at the young age of 34 in a car accident in 1967. She had 3 children and her middle child, MARISKA HARGITAY (her real name), went on to be a famous actress, currently starring in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. And today (11/8), the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce is honoring Mariska with a star on the Walk of Fame next to her Mom's star on Hollywood Boulevard. Congratulations Mariska!! We know Jayne would be so proud! To watch a live stream of the 11:30am ceremony or a video of it later, click here
The next Walk of Fame star induction ceremony is Jennifer Hudson (her real name) on Wednesday, November 13th at 11:30am.
Many other Divas adjusted or changed their names, click here to see the stars and their real names....
