Happy Birthday to LIZA MINNELLI born into a show business family on this day in 1946.  Her Mom Judy Garland, Dad movie director Vincent Minnelli and she inherited their talents as Liza is one of only a dozen or so performers that have won the EGOT...Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony Awards!!!

On this day in 1969, Paul McCartney married his first wife Linda Eastman. After the Beatles broke up in 1971, they formed the band Wings and remained married until Linda passed in 1998 from breast cancer.  The year before on March 11th, Paul was knighted by the British Empire. So that's two anniversaries in two days for Sir Paul.  He did go on to remarry a second and third time....

And Happy Anniversary to BOTTLED COCA-COLA, first sold in Mississippi on this day in 1894!! Prior to bottled Coke, it was served as a soda fountain drink in shops.   During the 1950's and 1960's, Coca-Cola sponsored the Art Laboe Hi-Fi Club.  In 1959, Coke was served at the Casbah Coffee Club where The Quarryman were the entertainment, they became The Beatles.  For more on those Liverpool beginnings, click here.   Today Coca-Cola is one of the world's largest beverage companies and still going strong.

A weekend of laughs is coming your way.....

Having to spring forward into Daylight Savings Time affects more than how many hours we see the sun.  Many people have their sleeping habits disrupted in the weeks following the change and this can be bad for your health, click here for more on that..

Here's some things to help you get to sleep, with 8 hours being the optimum:

- Your last meal of the day should be mostly protein and vegetables which kick starts the making of melatonin, the hormone that helps you to sleep

- Exercise during the day which is good for overall health

- deep breathing about 20 minutes before going to bed will help you relax

- don't watch TV or read before bed which stimulates the brain

- LIGHTS OUT!! darkness is another way to relax

Micky Dolenz of The Monkees fame and tattoo artist Kat Von D were both born on March 8th!!  Both popular TV personalities: Mickey on The Monkees in the 1960's and Kat on LA Ink in the 2000's.  And both musicians: Mickey a guitarist and drummer and Kat classically trained in piano.  Kat's tattoo shop, High Voltage, is around the corner from the Art Laboe studios and Mickey used to come to jam sessions IN the Art Laboe recording studios in the 70's (with Joni Mitchell, Nilsson and others). 

Other March 8th birthdays include Freddie Prinze Jr. (son of the late, great comedian), James Van Der Beek (Dawson's Creek, Don't Trust the B--- in Apartment 23), Hines Ward (NFL Super Champion Pittsburgh Steeler, Dancing With The Stars) and Jim Rice (Boston Red Sox #14 Baseball Hall of Famer)....

Also on March 8th, 1999 we lost of one of baseball's all time greatest players, Joe DiMaggio, New York Yankee #5 World Series Champion Baseball Hall of Famer once married to Marilyn Monroe and his 56 game hitting streak record is still unbeaten.....

The latest addition to the Hollywood Walk of Fame is, JAMES FRANCO, star of Disney's OZ: the Great and Powerful.  The ceremony took place on March 7th at the El Capitan Theatre (where OZ opens March 8th).  Ironically, 3/7 is also the birthday of Franco's OZ co-star, Rachel Weisz and former Disney chief Mike Eisner.  In attendance at the ceremony were Franco's family, director of OZ and the Spider-Man franchise, SAM RAIMI (pictured above) and Franco's Pineapple Express co-star, SETH ROGEN (pictured above).  Rogen is the co-director and co-writer of their next project together, the star studded This Is the End, which will be in theaters later this year.
