Minutes later the final gavel fell at $27.5 million for the ultra-rare 1967 Ferrari — a world record.
The final price with the commission included, makes it the most expensive road car ever sold at auction.
The Ferrari 275 N.A.R.T. Spider, was one of only 10 ever built, and its single-family ownership increased the car's value.
The car had been owned by the family that purchased it for 45 years, and they planned to donate the proceeds from the sale to charity.
