Things we have been talking about...
(Well, not quite 20, but here are a few I was asked to answer for my DJ page...)
Growing up I always wanted to be: An actress/singer/dancer, or marriage counselor
Nicknames I’ve had: Lala (from the family) and Chaka in high school when I had some BIG hair
I have always wanted to try: sleeping for 8 hours in a row, I hear it's heaven. :)
I would love to have lunch with: The Dalai Lama, Simon Cowell, Barack Obama, and Prince
My favorite TV shows are: The Sopranos (I can't stand violence and I still LOVE this show!) and American Idol..can't help it!!!
3 things I can't live without: My son, music, a way to learn something new
When I am not at work I can be found: running around doing Mommy stuff
The best thing about my job is: talking with people about things that really matter in their life, who they love, who they can't live without, how they see the world and why. And of course,,,playing music. :)
Favorite artists or group: Prince, Chaka, Patti LaBelle. This is always the hardest question for me, because my list of what I love could go on for days!!!!!
Favorite quote: "Let the beauty we love be what we do. There are hundreds of ways to kneel and kiss the ground" Jalauddin Rumi
What's in your CD player: Either "The Time" Megamix from Michael Erickson or A "Music Together" CD from my sons music class. I cant remember which one.
Favorite vacation spot: At the edge of the ocean anywhere or in a grove of redwood trees.
Things that annoy me: People who are oblivious to how their actions affect others
I've always loved music. When I was little I used to tape my favorite songs off the radio and played them for anyone who would listen. In 1987, I got my first job on the air. Two years later I got my big break at KMEL in San Francisco. I am especially proud of the work we did to bring awareness to the Stop the Violence movement.
My favorite part about being on the air is playing dedications. I love to help create memories.
My greatest joy is my son. I can't believe how fast he has grown already!!!
My son when he was 2 years old
People who have inspired me... Rev. Cecil Williams by his work in the community and his ability to bring people together. My high school drama teacher, Dave Motroni who gave me a safe place to make mistakes.
Trivial facts about my high school days...
*I knew all of the words to "Roxanne , Roxanne"
*I saw Purple Rain at least once a week while it was in the theaters
*I was voted Most Dramatic in my senior class (I'm still wishing for that Academy/Tony award any day now...)
Musical Quote: "Making love and music's the only things worth fighting 4" Prince
Supercute! I think the puppy thinks there is something underneath pushing back. #Jump
Not sure why this did it but I'm totally feeling it now :)
They did a beautiful job. I'll just focus on the beauty of the Christmas music and not how inadequate I feel playing Jingle Bells with 3 fingers on my keyboard...
Bluewater Productions has created a comic book biography of the life and career of Prince. They sent out a sample for review and I pasted a couple of pix here. Now, I know how Prince is about his image, so I dont know how they were able to do this. Also, Prince, years ago, did his own comic books(which I have tucked away and sealed). A must for Prince fans? Um, maybe. Or maybe for comic collectors who focus on music? Not sure.

Puppy vs. Mirror Puppy. A battle of cuteness
What do you like in your coffee?
Does Pumpkin Pie Spice sound good to you? Yeah, it did to me too. But I guess on a Monday morning, the boxes look really similar. (And for the record...not a good taste)
The thing about cooking Turkeys is, you do it only once a year so Its easy to forget the finer points. This woman has worked at the Butterball Turkey Hotline for years and has pretty much heard it all.
Ariana Grande. Superstar. I'm glad she is finally getting a chance to shine! Her voice used to get hidden on Victorius. Her performance at the AMA's was defining. She's on peoples radar for sure now if she wasn't already.
