CHAKA KHAN CELEBRATES 40 YEARS IN THE MUSIC BIZ
Chaka Khan has been in the game for a minute. The year 2013 marks the 40th anniversary for the soul singer-entrepreneur-philanthropist. Most people whose careers have spanned 40 years are in the headspace for retirement, but Khan has no plans to quit now. Chaka Khan Enterprises announced today (Aug 20) that the ten-time Grammy winner will acknowledge her longevity in entertainment and media with a year-long celebration that will include a new album and international and US tour. "I am honored and blessed to celebrate 40 years in music and entertainment," says Chaka. "I am so humbled by the love, support and gracious spirit of my fans worldwide and the continuous support my peers have shown over the years. Throughout my 40-year career, I have been through the fire a few times over and I'm still here as a living testament to God's love and grace. Next year, I will be celebrating 40 years in the business and 60 years on earth, which equals one hundred percent Chaka." Other goodies included in the celebration are the launch of Chakalates, a gourmet chocolate line, and Khana Sutra, a fragrance line suitable for men, women, and home with candles and sprays. Chaka Khan has done more things in forty years than what most people do in a lifetime: a fitting reason to celebrate.
MORE DRAMA WITH EN VOGUE…
Looks like the drama just won’t end for En Vogue. The breakup of En Vogue is heading to court...and possibly TV. Last month, fans found out that EnVogue had split into two different groups, but there was some confusion over which one was the real En Vogue. Well, Maxine Jones revealed via Twitter that her former group mates Terry Ellis and Cindy Herron have asserted their claim on the official group name by taking control of the business end of the group. "Yup Terry n Cindy r evil! They took over the LLC n bank acct, forced me out, gave my gigs 2 that chick LOL, and SUING #ME," wrote En Vogue member Maxine Jones, who let it slip that she might be working on a TV series. "Real arrogant b!#ches drunk with power lol! My lawyer and I took forward to court! We're gonna catch it on our reality show 2 lol." Her group member Dawn Robinson tried to get Maxine to tone it down, tweeting, "@MaxineJonesEV Dont worry about Max lol! The truth about their a*#es has to come out sooner or later! Do NOT erase these messages lol!" Neither Cindy nor Terry have commented on the matter via social media, so they might be reserving their reactions for court.

For the most part we readily assume that whatever Oprah wants Oprah gets … as far as celebrity interviews. But when it comes to the super reclusive Lauryn Hill, that may not be the case. Of course if you had her tax problem you would probably be press-shy as well. Oprah says she reached out, but Ms. Hill politely declined. When asked by a fan if she would ever interview Lauryn Hill, Oprah tweeted: “tries. she said no.” That’s too bad ’cause besides her tax issues and complicated love life, Lauryn Hill would have a lot to talk about.
Sony/ATV Music Publishing, a joint venture between Sony Corp. and the estate of Michael Jackson, will take over worldwide administration of Michael Jackson’s Mijac Music Catalog, which had been under Warner/Chappell Music Publishing since its inception in 1980. “We are excited that the company Michael helped found, Sony/ATV Music Publishing, and in which his Estate remains a 50% partner, will represent these amazing songs along with a rich collection of other music recorded by some of our greatest popular artists,” John Branca and John McClain, co-executors of the Michael Jackson estate, said in a statement.
